Sulat-Kamay Charity Drive

SULAT-KAMAY DRIVE is V-LEAGUE WINNIPEG’s brain child which will be sending donations in the Philippines.

June is the start of the school year in the Philippines. For impoverished parts of the country, going to school for most kids is an everyday struggle from crossing the river using a tight rope to walking miles of rough terrain barefoot.

This year we have chosen the LIPATA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in a small island in Quezon province in the Philippines as the first beneficiary of this good cause. Four (4) teachers manage 80 students from ALL grades.

We have started collecting school supplies since April 23rd during the V-League games @ Leila North Community School – 20 Alan Blye Dr. We have collected school and personal supplies and was recently shipped to the Philippines. Monetary donations poured in out of the kindness of companies, individuals who believe in this cause.

Shiela Cornejo, who is our Charity coordinator will be in the Philippines on September 2017 to personally oversee the distribution of school bags, FLIP-FLOPS (Tsinelas), Note pads, notebooks, and school uniforms. Hitting two birds in one stone, the company that manufactures durable bags out of recycled materials called TACLOB made a pledge to provide back packs for 80 students in a discounted price. The said company provides livelihood for people with disability.
